INTRODUCTION
In this review I will tell you about my experience with lingoni.
It’s a learning program for those who want to practice on their own or in addition to their German lessons. You can think of it as a workbook that is often sold as a supplement to a course book.
One thing first: Yes, I am an affiliate of lingoni. That means if you buy through a link on my site, I get a commission. But that doesn’t change my honest opinion. Also, I am writing my lingoni experience after several weeks and with the help of my wife who is currently learning German at A2 level. The program was critically examined, and at the end of the report everyone knows exactly whether it suits him or not.
FoCUS OF Lingoni
The course is intended as a supplement to German lessons with a teacher. The course does not replace a teacher. lingoni helps to improve listening comprehension, grammar, writing and vocabulary.
This is done with podcasts, online writing exercises, vocabulary lists and many videos.
For whom suitable?
In principle, it is suitable for all those who want to reach the following language levels:
A1 – A2 – B1 – B2.
For beginners on A1 and A2 all videos with explanations are available in English. So, especially as a beginner, you should be able to speak English to use all the features.
At B1 level, the explanations in English become less, and at B2 level, the explanations are then completely in German.

On the next page there is an overview of the program and the prices. When you select a price, the payment form will appear. For payment the following is accepted: Credit card, Paypal, Sofortüberweisung, Giropay.

Duration
Since the lingoni program is intended as a supplement to lessons or even self-study, there is no specific time frame in which you will work through everything. But you will definitely enjoy it for several weeks and months. Another interesting thing is that you don’t get direct access to the highest level. You have to take a final test for each level. If you pass it, you move on to the next level. It is similar to Duolingo: with a level test you can skip one level. The test took about 15 minutes (for me as a native speaker).
But if you don’t want to do a test, but want to unlock B1 or B2 directly, you can write to the support team. However, I don’t recommend it, because the tests help to detect mistakes and weak points. And who is perfect and can say that he knows everything?
How much time you have to invest?
From my experience as a German teacher and language learner, I recommend the following:
Unless you invest time every day, language learning is extremely slow and tedious.
The best thing to do is to develop a habit. That means learning between 15 and 30 minutes every day. In my case, the evening hours have proven to be good because I have my peace and quiet and can switch off. Also, you don’t overlap what you learn with other things that happen during the day.
In the online program of Lingoni there are: More than 700 videos, 140 podcasts, 600 worksheets to download, Total of about 18000 exercises.
The Structure of lingoni
There are 3 main categories to choose from for learning:
Podcasts, exercises, vocabulary and in the annual subscription also pronunciation (see photo).
It’s up to you now to choose what you want to learn, you yourself set the focus. Of course, it is best to complete exercises from each category equally. But if you want to eliminate a weakness in one area, you can focus on one category. For example, if you are very good at writing, but have difficulty listening, then the „Podcasts“ category might be good to start with.
You cannot freely choose between individual topics. You work through the topics according to the program’s default. You will not find a button to „skip“. Each topic must be worked on.
My Lingoni experience and impression.
Every person learns differently, and everyone has to try out for themselves and find out which learning method suits them best.
The lingoni learning method is didactically as well as design-wise mature. Many years of hard work and planning have been put into the development.
The user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) are simple and appealing. The modern and innovative design makes for an engaging and lasting experience.
I personally enjoyed working with it. I really liked working with the PDF’s. My wife, who is currently learning German at the A2 level, also found the online portal intuitive and easy to use. The tasks sorted by topics are interesting and entertaining.
What we liked and did not like
Positive
- Very well prepared PDFs with a lot of exercises for each topic
- Well researched podcasts
- Language explanations in podcasts and videos are adapted to the language level
- clear overview
- Very good exercises to learn sentence structure
Negative
- The interface (menu) is completely in German
- Explanations only in English and German
- The program is optimized (for now) for the browser on larger screens. The exercises can be done, but PDF editing on the mobile display is tedious.
The cost:
Prices
49€ /3 months
For 3 months you pay 49 euros, which ends up being only 16.33€ per month.
119€ /year
For 12 months it costs less than 10 euros per month
349€ / ONE Time
Lifetime access is 349€, but was available on offer for €261.75.
Is the price justified?
Yes, definitely. Let’s compare with other expenses for learning German: A German private lesson costs about 25 euros per hour. A German course book costs between 20 and 30 euros. And for Duolingo Plus you pay about 8 euros per month. So a price of about 10 € per month (in the annual subscription) is definitely justified. Especially since Duolingo’s didactics and learning content do not come close to the level of Lingoni.
CONCLUSION
My lingoni experience was very positive. I can recommend lingoni to anyone who speaks English, wants to learn more vocabulary, improve their listening comprehension and work on their sentence structure.
The program works better than the workbooks that are often sold in addition to course books. Save the money for that and invest it in lingoni instead.
If you don’t fit into any of these categories, then take a look at my course offerings.
Very good post. I absolutely appreciate this website. Stick with it!
This is the perfect blog for anyone who wishes to find out about this topic. You understand so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually would want toÖHaHa). You definitely put a brand new spin on a topic that has been discussed for many years. Excellent stuff, just great!
